Jewellery Care Guide

Preserve the beauty of your Mayaleki treasures

We want your favourite pieces to stay as beautiful as the day you first wore them. Follow these simple steps to care for your Mayaleki handmade treasures:

1. The "Last On, First Off" Rule

Always put your jewellery on last—after you have applied your perfume, hairspray, lotions, or makeup. The chemicals in these products can dull the shine of premium pearls over time. When you get home, make your jewellery the first thing you take off.

2. Keep it Dry

Our pearls are high-quality and fade-resistant for daily use, but the metal bases stay brightest when kept dry.

  • No Water: Take off your jewellery before showering, swimming, or washing your face.
  • No Sweat: Avoid wearing heavy necklaces or chokers during intense workouts.

3. Gentle Cleaning

After wearing your jewellery, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cotton cloth or a microfiber cloth. This removes skin oils and dust, keeping the pearls glowing. Never use jewelry cleaning liquids or harsh soaps.

4. Smart Storage

Since pearls can get scratched by harder metals:

  • Store each piece in the Mayaleki pouch or a separate soft box we provide.
  • Avoid tangling chains with other jewellery.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

5. Special Care for Occasion Wear

For heavier pieces like Chokers and Mangalsutras, ensure they are stored flat to maintain the shape of the handmade design. These pieces love a little extra care!
